# USCIS has just released their tally of cap filings as of 04/04/2007, Wednesday. In two days (04/02 and 04/03), they received 133,000 unique pieces of mail containing H-1B petitions, which turned out to be lower than 150,000 which they had initially reported. They reached the updated number following a physical count of the mail. Each piece of mail may contain more than one H-1B petition and it will take USCIS a substantial amount of time to open and sort through that volume of mail. It is a good news in a way that at the end, the total may turn out to be less than guestimate in the community and the rate of odds for winning in the lottery may be much more promising than the one initially anticipated in the rumors.

* General cap cases: 28,052
* U.S. Master or higher degree cases: 4,703

Reading your forum is scary and disturbing. I myself have 7 month old baby and I can imagine how a parent would feel in this situation.
My advice:
1. Keep your cool.
2. Get rid of that lady.
3. Whatever beating/scolding she has done to your child, it is past. Children are much resilient and recover easily and faster than we adults in case of physical and mental suppression.
4. See, if your parents can come for few months to support you.
5. Send your child to a good day care or hire a recommended nanny from a referral.
Not all nannies are bad. And next time, hire a nanny in a legal manner.

pappu, pls let me know, if u received the fund. Also, one small suggestion, we can just maintain a small excel sheet, to just see who (just the user id and not the actual name) contributed and how much money they contributed just in this campaign. Cos, I hate to say this, I just dont want to be around those who want to have a free ride from all the hard work that IV group is putting in. Please everyone please donate. I grow different kind in my backyard. It all depends on the size of your backyard and which zone you live in states. I live in virginia. By this August end /september first week summer crop will end. I grow tomatoes(30 plants), Mint, snake guard, water melons (15 plants), cantaloupes(10 plants), carrots, okra, spinach , chillis. Its fun and hard work too. You need to dig the soil, mix with top soil or garden soil and cultivate it. Every week fertilize it. This is my first year gardening. I have around 3000 square ft of back yard. i do not know what to do with that. I cannot maintain Lawn in back yard. So I decided to grow vegetables.
I am eagerly waiting for my fall garden..I am planning to grow tulips,beets,cilantro,carrots,potato,peas etc., If I can get same space for garden In India and work place just 3 miles from home , I can happily go back to India.

Just ignore the accusations. Two things here. Firstly, people are really frustrated here with all the GC stuff. Secondly, there has been lot of Anti-immigrants coming in and trying to disrupt the forums, making people inherently suspicious.

2). Then i changed my Visa to H1-B in 2005.
3). I was asking my employer to file for change of status from L-1 to H-1.
4). Those guys filed for a new H-1 and sent it to a consulate in India.
5). I was not aware of this and i thought i am legal till september the expiration date on my Visa.
6). Labor got cleared in July-2007.
7). Thought i would file for I-140 and I-485 together and found out that my I-94 was expired since September-2006.
What is the best course of action here to remedy my situation??
Any advice or details of a great Immigration lawyer who dealth with such cases before would be of great help.

You're in a tricky situation. If you leave the country now you could possibly face a 3 year ban on entry. If your H1 NOA did not contain a I-94 then you're possibly on unlawful stay. You could however file for a waiver with an explanation, but it is at the consulates discretion. I would find an Immigration lawyer and consult with him/her.

My lawyer applied for my visa an 23rd Apr under the masters cap. I haven't received The receipt yet. I am wondering if there is anyone on the similar lines. Please reply or is it only me with one such case. I know USCIS has said that they need till 2nd June to resolve the situation. My case is with the vermont center.
I also have my OPT case pending there. It was filed in the first week of May. I have been told that it takes around 90 days for it but sometimes it also takes place early. Please advise.
